Job summary

MaineGeneral Medical Center in Augusta, ME is seeking a Sterile Processing Technician to clean, decontaminate, and prepare surgical instruments and patient care equipment. You will collect, receive, and sort instruments and collaborate with interdepartmental staff to meet daily schedules and urgent surgical needs.

The role requires CRCST or CSPDT certification within two years of hire, meticulous attention to infection control, and the ability to work in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.

Qualifications

  • CRCST (Certified Registered Central Service Technician) or CSPDT (Certified Sterile Processing and Distribution Technician) certification within two years of hire

  • Prior experience in sterile processing or related healthcare support preferred

Responsibilities

  • Cleans and decontaminates surgical instrumentation and patient care equipment
  • Collects, receives, and sorts instruments
  • Follows manufacturer instructions and departmental procedures to ensure proper cleaning, decontamination, and preparation of instruments and equipment
  • Locates, collects, and prepares instruments for pickup or delivery, including packaging for offsite locations as needed
  • Maintains and operates decontamination and sterilization equipment in accordance with organizational, regulatory, and safety standards
  • Monitors sterilization indicators and maintains accurate records for quality assurance and compliance

Individual pay is determined based on factors such as experience, qualifications, skills, and market considerations. In addition to base pay, eligible team members may earn additional compensation through shift, weekend, holiday, on-call, and other applicable differentials.
