Responsibilities

  • Decontaminate, inspect, assemble, sterilize, and distribute surgical instruments and trays.
  • Monitor sterilization equipment and maintain accurate records.
  • Assist with instrumentation needs based on the surgical schedule.
  • Troubleshoot equipment and manage storage/inventory.

You’ll coordinate closely with surgical technologists and OR staff to anticipate daily needs and ensure smooth surgical operations.️ What You’ll Do:Decontaminate, inspect, assemble, sterilize, and distribute surgical instruments and traysEnsure compliance with infection control and sterilization standardsMonitor sterilization equipment and maintain accurate recordsSupport the OR team by anticipating instrumentation needs based on the surgical scheduleAssist with equipment troubleshooting, storage, and inventory maintenancePromote a safe, sterile, and efficient environment for patients and staff What You Bring:High school diploma or equivalentSterile processing experience preferredSterile Processing Certification (CRCST) or willingness to obtain within 1 year of hireStrong working knowledge of instrument processing, infection control, and surgical equipmentBasic Life Support (BLS) certificationExcellent attention to detail, organizational skills, and a team-first attitudePhysical & Environmental Requirements:Frequent standing, walking, bending, and reachingAbility to lift up to 20 lbs occasionallyExposure to biohazardous materials and sterilization chemicalsOperation of autoclaves, washers, and standard office equipmentWhy Orthopaedic Associates of Maine?
