Job summary

CommonSpirit Health's CHI St. Vincent Stepdown Unit is seeking a Registered Nurse to guide patients transitioning from intensive care toward safe home recovery.

Qualifications

• Licensed Registered Nurse in AR at hire.
• BLS CPR within 30 days of hire.
• ACLS within 12 months of hire.
• Previous step-down and/or ICU experience for PRN roles.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care including medication administration and monitoring.
• Collaborate with physicians, other health care providers, patients and families.
• Monitor vital signs and respond to changes in patient condition.
• Care for multiple patients with varying ages and conditions per shift.
• Manage life-saving equipment such as IVs, catheters, feeding tubes and ventilators.

*Job Summary and Responsibilities*

As our Registered Nurse at CHI St. Vincent in Stepdown Unit, you will help patients transitioning from intensive care achieve optimal health and independence so they can return home safely and confidently.

Every day you will provide direct patient care, including medication administration, monitoring vital signs, and managing complex patient needs. You will be expected to collaborate effectively with physicians, other healthcare providers, and patients and their families.

To be successful in this role, you must possess strong critical thinking, problem-solving, and time management skills.

• Checking patients' health status daily and making note of any changes or concerns
• Caring for multiple patients throughout the same shift, often varying in age and condition
• Monitoring patients with life‑saving medical equipment such as IVs, catheters, feeding tubes and ventilators
• Providing a comfortable and secure environment for the patient while acting as their advocate
