Job summary

The University of Connecticut’s Center for Access and Postsecondary Success (CAPS) seeks applicants to serve as the Upward Bound Math and Science Program Director for the Rockville High School program. Based out of the Storrs Campus, the Director will oversee all college preparation programming for first-generation, low-income students in STEM.

The Director will hire, train, supervise staff; manage program budgets; prepare reports; coordinate with campus units and community partners; and

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in a related field and substantial related experience.
• Two years of experience as a senior team member or project lead.
• Experience with first-generation college students and underrepresented populations.
• Demonstrated budget/fiscal management experience.
• Experience in college access programming and postsecondary preparation.

Responsibilities

• Plan and administer day-to-day program operations and ensure compliance.
• Develop and implement college outreach and preparation programming for STEM-focused students.
• Recruit, hire, train, and supervise staff; assign tasks and evaluate performance.
• Monitor budgets; prepare reports and projections with fiscal staff.
• Ensure compliance with all reporting and grant requirements; prepare necessary reports.
• Engage with school personnel and community partners to promote the program.
• Assist families with navigating college admissions and financial aid.
• Establish partnerships with university stakeholders and TRIO organizations.
• Conduct annual program evaluation, collect data, and recommend improvements.
• Support grant activities and fundraising efforts; travel as needed.
