Job summary

Taft College is seeking a pool of qualified substitute tutors to support STEM/MESA students. Tutors assist in Math, Chemistry, Biology, Physics, Engineering and related subjects, individually or in groups, following instructor guidance.

Success requires experience with tutoring or teaching, strong organizational skills, and the ability to adapt to diverse learning styles and backgrounds. The position is for substitutes with no guaranteed hours, at Taft College in Taft, CA.

Qualifications

• Associate degree/60 completed units or equivalent required.
• Experience tutoring or teaching preferred.
• Sensitivity to diverse backgrounds and disabilities.

Responsibilities

• Tutor students in assigned subjects (Math, Chemistry, Biology, Physics, Engineering) and other sciences.
• Provide learning assistance individually or in groups and track progress.
• Meet with instructors for guidance and visit classes.
• Plan and facilitate tutoring sessions and manage lab or study sessions.
• Maintain records of attendance, progress and materials.
