Job summary

Onward We Learn in Providence, RI seeks an Academic Tutor for STEM subjects to support middle and high school students in math and science. You will differentiate instruction, adapt approaches, and help students prepare for assessments, both in-person and virtually.

This part-time role runs mid-September through June with a flexible weekly schedule. Ideal candidates have at least two years of college coursework toward a bachelor's degree, a STEM background, and experience working with teens.

Qualifications

• Two years of college coursework toward a bachelor's degree.
• Background in STEM, K-12 education, youth development, or related field.
• Experience with middle/high school students.
• Ability to differentiate instruction for diverse learners.
• Strong communication with students, families, and staff.
• Evening and Saturday availability during the academic year.

Responsibilities

• Tutor math and/or science to middle/high school students (in-person or virtual).
• Differentiate instruction to meet individual needs.
• Help students prepare for math/science assessments and exams.
• Build positive relationships with students and families.
• Create a safe, inclusive learning environment.
• Monitor student progress and communicate with staff.
