Job summary

The Newark Board of Education is seeking a Teacher of Elementary for Sir Isaac Newton Elementary School in Newark, NJ to foster student curiosity and apply science-focused, project-based learning. You will contribute to curriculum design and empower students to imagine themselves as leaders in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics.

Qualified candidates hold a New Jersey Department of Education Standard Certificate (or CE/CEAS) and a Bachelor's degree (preferred).

Qualifications

• New Jersey Department of Education Standard Certificate, CE, or CEAS is required.
• Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university (preferred).

Responsibilities

• Plans a program of study meeting individual needs and abilities.
• Evaluates student progress and prepares progress reports.
• Instructs pupils in citizenship, basic communication skills, and general elements of the course of study.
• Provides individual, small, and/or large-group instruction to adapt the curriculum.
• Maintains standards of pupil behavior for an orderly environment.
• Develops instructional plans and organizes class time for a balanced program.
• Supervises activities during the working day and coordinates with aides and paraprofessionals.
• Communicates with parents and staff about student progress.

Education

New Jersey Department of Education Standard Certificate, CE, or CEAS (as required).
