Job summary

The Salk Institute is seeking a Research Assistant I to support NIH-funded work on human iPSC differentiation and beta cell transplantation for diabetes therapies. You will collaborate with scientists, maintain iPSC cultures, and perform multi-stage differentiation protocols, while ensuring aseptic technique and rigorous records.

The role offers exposure to genome engineering, cellular biology techniques, and small-animal studies within a multidisciplinary research environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Biological Sciences or related field is required.
• A minimum of 2 years in a scientific role is required if the degree is in a different discipline.
• Computer skills include Microsoft Office and project management software.

Responsibilities

• Maintain, expand, passage, cryopreserve, and recover human iPSC lines using sterile technique.
• Prepare reagents and support multistage differentiation of iPSCs into pancreatic lineages.
• Monitor cell culture quality and maintain accurate experimental records.
• Assist with banking, quality control, and characterization of iPSC lines.
• Perform DNA, RNA, and protein extraction and assist with molecular assays.

Education

Bachelor's degree in Biological Sciences or related scientific discipline required. A minimum of 2 years of experience in a scientific role is required for consideration of a Bachelor's degree in a different discipline.
