Job summary

QLD Biotherapeutics Inc. is seeking a Scientist/Senior Scientist to join the Cellular Therapy Group in Boston. The role focuses on developing iPSC-derived differentiation platforms and advancing cell therapies for diabetes and neurological diseases.

The candidate will collaborate with a drug discovery team to drive early R&D activities, optimize scalable workflows, and contribute to IND-enabling work in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.

Qualifications

• PhD in developmental biology, immunology, cell biology, or related field with 3+ years of post‑doctoral, academic faculty, or industrial experience.
• Expertise at iPSC or stem cell differentiation, culture, banking and characterization.
• Experience with CRISPR, lentivirus, transposon and LNP delivery preferred.
• Experience with multiplex flow cytometry and whole genome sequencing preferred.
• Strong publication record and excellent communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Design and optimize iPSC differentiation platforms to produce beta-islet and neuronal cells with high purity.
• Develop and validate characterization assays across differentiation stages.
• Reprogram somatic/blood cells and bank iPSC clones.
• Analyze data and communicate results to project teams in a timely manner.
• Manage study progress, ensure data accuracy and integrity.
• Prepare preclinical documents and patent-related studies to support IND filing.
• Identify hurdles and contribute to contingency plans with cross-functional teams.
• Adhere to SOPs and GxP guidelines in a collaborative environment.

At QLD Biotherapeutics, we develop cell and gene therapies using innovative technologies to treat devastating diseases. We are seeking a highly motivated and talentedScientist/Senior Scientistto join our Cellular Therapy Group to advance our efforts in induced-pluripotent stem cell (iPSC)-derived cell therapies. The successful candidate will focus on developing novel iPSC-derived cell differentiation platform to support best-in-class cell therapy development.

This position provides an excellent learning and growth opportunity, to work closely with an experienced drug discovery and development team and contribute to early stages of research and development activities in a fast-paced and highly collaborative environment.

Primary Responsibilities

• Design and optimize novel, scalable and robust iPSC differentiation platforms to produce beta-islet cells and neuronal cells with high efficiency and purity, for treatment of diabetes and neurological diseases.
• Develop and validate characterization assays to determine the various differentiation stages using cellular and molecular methods.
• Reprogram somatic and blood cells and bank corresponding iPSC clones.
• Analyze and interpret the data and be responsible for timely and effective communication of data and results to the project teams.
• Manage study progress, ensure data accuracy and integrity.
• Prepare key preclinical documents, and patent application, including, but not limited to study protocols, and study reports to support IND filling
• Identify potential project hurdles, suggest solutions, and contribute to contingency plans.
• Works collaboratively within internal cross-function teams and external CRO/academic institutes
• Adhere to the appropriate SOP and GxP guidelines, and embrace a collaborative culture

• Expertise at iPSC or stem cell differentiation, culture, banking and characterization
• Experience in cellular and gene engineering using CRISPR, lentivirus, transposon and LNP is preferred
• Experience with multiplex flow cytometry and whole genome sequencingis preferred
• Track record of independent research and creativity, as demonstrated by first author publications
• Excellent organizational and time management skills and must be a self-starter with the ability to thrive in a multi-disciplinary, collaborative, fast-paced, and team-oriented environment.
