Job summary

University of California, San Francisco is seeking a junior or assistant Specialist for the Parent lab in our Diabetes Center. The role involves culturing primary human and pluripotent cells, performing genome engineering with TALEN/CRISPR, transfection or viral delivery, and analyzing cells via immunohistochemistry, qPCR, and flow cytometry.

The candidate will assist with lab organization and execute experiments per standard procedures to interpret results.

Qualifications

• BA/BS degree in biological or biochemical sciences or related field (for Junior rank).
• Master’s degree in biological or biochemical sciences or related field (for Assistant rank).
• Materials must show pending qualifications at submission.
• Must meet degree requirement by hire date.
• Experience with cell culture methodologies.

Responsibilities

• Culture of primary human cells and pluripotent stem cells.
• Genome engineering of cells using TALEN/CRISPR.
• Transfection and/or viral infection of mammalian cells.
• Analysis of cells by immunohistochemistry, qPCR and flow cytometry.
• Participate in lab organization tasks (ordering and maintaining supplies/equipment).
• Design and execute laboratory testing per standard procedures, observe and interpret findings.
