Job summary

The Flatbush YMCA is seeking an Activity Specialist to design and deliver age-appropriate STEM instruction within the Y Afterschool program. Under the Program Director, you will create a safe, engaging space for school-age children to learn through hands-on projects and enrichment activities.

You will lead daily STEM sessions, integrate literacy where possible, assess progress, and collaborate with staff and partners to meet OCFS/DOH standards and ensure the wellbeing of participants.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent required; college credits preferred.
• Minimum of two years’ experience in science, technology, engineering, or math.
• Direct experience with children under 13.
• Content expert in the designated subject matter.
• Proficiency with MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.

Responsibilities

• Design a comprehensive STEM curriculum with measurable goals and objectives tailored to multiple grade levels.
• Lead daily STEM activities in a safe, inclusive, and stimulating learning environment.
• Incorporate diverse STEM subjects including coding, robotics, and data analysis as appropriate.
• Work with Program Director to secure materials, equipment, and tech needs; ensure safety considerations are met.
• Prepare participants for an end-of-cycle showcase and assist with event setup.
