Job summary

The Prolift Rigging Company in the United States seeks a Steerman to safely transport oversized and heavy haul loads. You will control rear steering axles on large trailers, ensuring loads track through turns and tight job sites, while coordinating with the driver via radio to keep routes safe.

This role may also involve acting as a chase pilot, assisting with traffic control, signaling drivers, and supporting roadside inspections or minor mechanical tasks as needed.

Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years driving experience.
• Minimum 3 years of oversize heavy haul experience.
• CDL-A with clean MVR and post-offer drug screen.

Responsibilities

• Operates rear steering axles on large or articulated vehicles.
• Ensures trailers stay aligned and on course during transit.
• Communicates with front driver for coordinated vehicle control.
• Navigates tight turns, narrow roads, and complex routes.
• Monitors trailer position and adjusts rear axles as needed.
• Studies traffic, hazards, and route challenges; adjusts as required.
• Assists with loading/unloading and roadside inspections when needed.
