Job summary

North Shore Steel is seeking a details-driven Quality Control Representative to inspect processed steel parts for conformance with customer specs and internal standards. You will verify dimensions, materials, and workmanship, ensuring accurate labeling and packaging for shipment.

Ideal candidates bring 2+ years in quality control, strong blueprint-reading and measurement skills, and the ability to communicate effectively with production teams while maintaining accurate inspection records.

Qualifications

• Minimum of two years in quality control, inspection, or related manufacturing work.
• Ability to read blueprints, shop drawings, and customer specifications.
• Good visual and auditory acuity for safe inspection work and measurements.
• Strong math skills for dimensional verification and tolerances.
• Experience with measuring tools (tape, calipers, squares, protractors).
• Knowledge of steel plate processing is a plus; crane experience preferred.
• Experience documenting inspections, nonconformances, and QA reports.
• Organized, with good record-keeping and attention to detail.
• Excellent communication and ability to work independently with teams.

Responsibilities

• Inspect processed steel products for conformance to specs and quality standards.
• Review work orders and drawings prior to inspection activities.
• Verify dimensions, tolerances, and material identification using inspection tools.
• Ensure shipment readiness and proper labeling, packaging, and documentation.
• Prepare inspection reports and nonconformance records when needed.
• Communicate results to production and suggest corrective actions.
• Assist root cause investigations and QC-related actions.
• Support production with palletizing, deburring, and related duties.
