Job summary

North Shore Steel is seeking a detail-oriented Quality Control Representative for the night shift in East Houston operations. You will inspect processed steel products, verify dimensions, and ensure conformance to customer specs and internal standards.

The role requires blueprint reading, measurement skills, strong communication, and the ability to work with production teams to maintain quality throughout manufacturing and shipment readiness.

Qualifications

• Minimum of two (2) years of quality control, inspection, manufacturing, steel processing, fabrication, or related industrial experience.
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints, shop drawings, work orders, and customer specifications.
• Adequate visual and auditory acuity to safely perform tasks, including measurements, hazards, and responding to instructions.
• Strong mathematical aptitude for measurements and dimensional verification.
• Experience with tape measures, calipers, squares, protractors, bevel gauges, and similar tools.
• Knowledge of carbon steel plate processing: burning, beveling, rolling, drilling, fabrication preferred.
• Experience completing inspection documentation, quality reports, and nonconformance reports preferred.
• Overhead crane experience preferred.
• Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and accurate records.
• Professional communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work independently while collaborating with production teams.

Responsibilities

• Inspect processed steel products to ensure compliance with customer specifications and quality standards.
• Review work orders, drawings, purchase orders before inspection.
• Verify dimensions, tolerances, material identification, and workmanship.
• Ensure products meet customer requirements before shipment.
• Reject nonconforming products and materials.
• Complete nonconformance reports and document findings.
• Prepare quality records and inspection reports.
• Communicate results to production and provide corrective-action recommendations.
• Assist with root-cause investigations and corrective actions.
• Label parts per customer requirements and procedures.
• Verify shipment accuracy and packaging requirements.
• Palletize, bundle, stage, and prepare finished products for shipment.
• Transport and load products using forklifts or cranes.
• Maintain inspection records per procedures.
• Support production with palletizing, deburring, and related duties.
