Job summary

Next Level Steel, LLC is seeking a hands-on Quality Control Inspector to join our fabrication shop team. In this full-time role, you will help ensure structural steel fabrication and welding meet drawings, codes, and our high standards with accuracy and collaboration with production.

You’ll work closely with shop staff to uphold quality, support audits, and maintain comprehensive QA records. Applicants should have 3+ years in steel fabrication inspection and be able to read weld symbols and use

Qualifications

• Read and apply structural steel drawings, shop drawings, weld symbols and specs.
• Read, interpret, and apply industry standards (AWS D1.1, AISC).
• Maintain thorough inspection records and documentation.

Responsibilities

• Perform in-process and final visual inspections of structural steel fabrication and welds in a shop environment.
• Verify material identification, heat numbers, and traceability against Mill Test Reports (MTRs).
• Inspect assembly fit-up, welding, bolting, hole sizes, edge conditions, and tolerances per specs and codes.
• Ensure welding operations follow Welding Procedure Specifications (WPSs) and that welders are properly qualified.
• Document inspection results and note any repairs or re-inspections.
• Initiate and track Nonconformance Reports (NCRs) for discrepancies.
• Coordinate with production staff, supervision, and third-party inspectors for workflow.
• Maintain detailed QA records per project specs and company requirements.
• Support internal and external audits with complete documentation.
• Enforce inspection hold points and quality procedures throughout fabrication.
