Job summary

T&B Tube in Gary, IN is seeking a Steel Procurer to drive steel and raw material purchases. You’ll analyze MRP data, place orders, and monitor supplier performance to keep production flowing. You’ll work with suppliers, planning, and internal teams to resolve shortages and optimize inventory.

Strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and experience with ERP/MRP systems are essential. A related associate degree or equivalent experience is preferred.

Qualifications

• Detail-oriented and organized.
• Experience with purchasing, procurement, supply chain, manufacturing, or materials management.
• Knowledge of steel products, raw materials, and manufacturing processes is preferred.
• Associate degree in Supply Chain, Business, Manufacturing, or related field preferred; equivalent experience considered.
• Experience working with ERP/MRP systems.

Responsibilities

• Analyze MRP data to identify steel and raw material requirements.
• Place purchase orders for steel and related materials to support production schedules and customer demand.
• Monitor supplier performance to ensure on-time delivery and compliance with PO requirements.
• Resolve shortages, quality concerns, or other purchasing issues.
• Maintain accurate procurement records and update purchasing information in the ERP/MRP system.
• Identify alternative materials and suppliers when shortages or disruptions occur.
• Develop and maintain strong relationships with suppliers and internal stakeholders.
