Job summary

Tube Supply in Houston, TX seeks a Strategic Sourcing Specialist to lead replenishment, supplier negotiations, and ERP-based sourcing analytics. This full-time, on-site role focuses on optimizing procurement for steel, alloys, and bar products used in oil and gas applications.

The ideal candidate brings 7+ years in supply chain or procurement, strong Excel and ERP skills, and a results-driven mindset to improve cost, quality, and delivery. Travel to mills or vendors may be required.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree required (Supply Chain preferred).
  • 7+ years of Supply Chain or Procurement experience preferred, ideally in steel, metals or other industrial distribution sector.
  • High proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including pivot tables, lookups, and working with large data sets.
  • Working knowledge of ERP systems and pricing/cost data structures.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to translate cost data into clear guidance for sales.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Detail-oriented with a high standard for data accuracy and documentation.
  • Bilingual preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Identify replenishment items, issue RFQs, evaluate offers, negotiate with suppliers, enter POs, track shipments, approve invoices
  • Maintain logs for open POs, RFQs, supplier NCRs, and incoming vessels
  • Strengthen relationships with key suppliers; support new supplier qualifications and onboarding
  • Partner with buyers to complete supplier evaluations and quarterly scorecards on quality, on-time delivery, pricing, and responsiveness
  • Maintain replacement costs across districts and publish updates
  • Monitor market conditions affecting supply and cost (mill capacity, lead times, imports, tariffs) and report trends
  • Track base price and surcharge movements for key suppliers; brief sales staff regularly
  • Develop and maintain inventory classification to optimize stock and prevent stockouts
  • Build and maintain sourcing reports and dashboards using Excel and ERP data
  • Keep supplier documentation current: certifications, NDAs, letters of compliance, quality approvals
  • Support ERP transition and train team members on the new system
  • Be familiar with steel making processes and Tube Supply specs; work with metallurgist to revise internal specs
  • Develop and propose continuous improvement initiatives to enhance Supply Chain processes
  • Occasional travel to mills and vendors as requested
  • Other responsibilities as requested by management

Responsibilities

Description of Responsibilities:

  • Identify items for replenishment, issue RFQs, evaluate offers, negotiate with suppliers, enter and maintain POs, track shipments, and approve invoices

  • Develop and maintain inventory classification to optimize stock investment and prioritize replenishment of critical items to prevent stockouts
  • Build and maintain sourcing reports and dashboards using Excel and ERP data
  • Keep supplier documentation current - mill certifications, NDAs, letters of compliance, quality approvals
  • Support the ERP transition and train other team members on the new ERP system
  • Be familiar with the steel making process and Tube Supply/Industry specifications, and work with our metallurgist to revise internal specs as needed
  • Develop and propose continuous improvement initiatives to enhance our Supply Chain processes
  • Occasional travel to mills and vendors as requested by management
  • Any other responsibilities as requested by management
