Job summary

Triple-S Steel Holdings, Inc. is seeking a material handler to read and execute work orders, moving steel safely to storage and production areas. This hourly role reports to the Warehouse Supervisor and requires adherence to Safe Methods of Work.

You will operate equipment such as forklifts and overhead cranes, apply bundling techniques, and coordinate loads for planned routes while maintaining productivity and safety in all weather.

Qualifications

• Read work orders or follow oral instructions to determine work assignments or material or equipment needs.
• Meet or exceed minimum productivity levels.
• Plan and organize work activities independent of direct supervision; work alone and in a team environment.
• Develop a good working knowledge of product and inventory control techniques and procedures.
• Maintain ongoing inter-department communications related to routing, safety, and customer relations.
• Demonstrate basic math skills.

Responsibilities

• Follow safe methods of work at all times and report unsafe conditions.
• Move steel to/from storage or production areas using hand tools, forklift, or crane.
• Lift up to 50 pounds for up to 25 feet and maneuver loads with care.
• Apply proper bundling techniques.
• Configure load based on planned route with multiple stops.
• Maximize load capacity on trailers while maintaining safety.
• Maintain and safely operate tools and PPE; report safety issues promptly.
• Work indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions.
• Maintain spatial awareness around moving objects and people.
• Attend required company meetings.
• Other duties may be assigned.
