Job summary

BICO Steel is seeking a dependable Laborer at our Akron, OH location to support daily shop operations, including deburring, cleaning, material movement, and housekeeping. The role requires following orders and maintaining a safe work environment in a union shop setting.

Shift options include 1st shift (6:00 AM–2:00 PM) or 2nd shift (2:00 PM–10:00 PM). We value reliability, teamwork, and a strong work ethic. Candidates must be able to pass pre-employment checks.

Qualifications

• Willingness to work in a manufacturing environment.
• Mechanical aptitude and ability to learn shop processes, tools, and equipment.
• Basic computer skills to update job tracking information.
• Ability to follow production orders and identify non-conforming material.
• Commitment to safe work practices and proper PPE usage.

Responsibilities

• Perform general labor duties daily as directed by supervision.
• Support deburring, cleaning, material movement, and shop housekeeping needs.
• Check and clear work areas to avoid trip hazards and maintain housekeeping.
• Wear required PPE (safety glasses, steel-toed shoes) and follow safety procedures.
• Match production orders to the correct piece or pieces and document checks.
• Update order status using the job tracking computer and labor entry.
• Move completed pieces and orders to the next work center or shipping area.
