Job summary

MPI in Detroit is seeking an experienced Steel Estimator to join the team on major structural steel and fabrication bids. The role targets candidates with 7+ years of estimating experience who want to own bids, work on complex projects, and contribute to a collaborative, high-caliber team.

Key duties include structural/miscellaneous steel estimating, hard bids, negotiated proposals, and close work with preconstruction and operations.

Qualifications

• Experience preparing cost estimates for steel construction work.
• Experience reviewing drawings, specifications, and bid documents.
• Ability to complete material and labor quantity takeoffs.
• Experience gathering and evaluating supplier and subcontractor pricing.

Job Description

This company is looking to add an experienced Steel Estimator to their team in the Metro Detroit area.

This is a great opportunity for someone with 7+ years of estimating experience who wants to take ownership of bids, work on complex projects, and be part of a strong, collaborative team.

What they're looking for:

• 7+ years of estimating experience
• Ability to independently prepare detailed estimates and competitive proposals
• Strong understanding of construction costs, drawings, specifications, and subcontractor pricing
• A degree in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering, or Construction Management is preferred

A successful Steel Estimator should have:
