Job summary

TIC - The Industrial Company in Abilene, TX is seeking a skilled structural steel erector to read blueprints, assemble and position steel components on heavy construction sites. You will work with cranes, rigging and hand tools to lift, align and secure members according to plans and safety standards.

Responsibilities include cutting and welding as required, verifying alignment with lasers and levels, and coordinating with supervision to ensure quality and on-time completion of each structure.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required; relevant experience preferred.
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints and specifications.
• Strong communication and safety-focused mindset.

Responsibilities

• Read blueprints to determine materials and measurements.
• Fabricate metal parts per plans and supervisor instructions.
• Unload and position prefabricated steel units for hoisting.
• Operate or signal hoisting equipment to place members.
• Verify alignment using plumb bobs, lasers, or levels.
• Cut, bend, or weld steel components as required.
• Inspect work and enforce safety and project rules.
