Job summary

HANDS THAT MAKE A DIFFERENCE INC seeks COMPASS After-School Program Director to lead on-site implementation, supervision, and evaluation of NYC after-school, summer, and extended-day programs for youth.

Responsibilities include planning high-quality activities across STEM, arts, wellness, and SEL; supervising staff; ensuring DYCD and SACC compliance; managing budgets; and collaborating with schools and community partners to support student success and well-being.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Education or related field required; Master’s preferred.
• Proven experience in youth development or after-school program management.
• Strong organizational and budget management abilities; knowledge of DYCD/SACC rules.

Responsibilities

• Plan, implement, and evaluate high-quality academic, enrichment, recreation, STEM, arts, wellness, and SEL activities.
• Recruit, hire, onboard, train, supervise, and evaluate program staff; manage schedules and payroll.
• Ensure adherence to DYCD and SACC regulations; maintain safe, compliant environments.
• Monitor budgets, inventory, and purchasing; allocate staffing and resources efficiently.
• Develop STEM, arts, sports, tutoring, and enrichment workshops with SEL integration.
• Build relationships with schools, parents, and community partners.
• Lead quarterly theme projects, parent meetings, and voucher family recruitment.
