Job summary

Fordham University is seeking a Steam-Refrigeration Engineer (L) to operate and maintain boilers, steam plants, and refrigeration systems. The role requires ensuring continuous operation during Saturday to Wednesday shifts, 6:00 am – 2:30 pm, with duties including monitoring, preventive maintenance, and coordination of calls after hours.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Active NYC High Pressure Boiler License.
• Active NYC COQ for Refrigeration Systems Operator’s License.
• EPA CFC Certification.
• Valid Driver’s License.
• Excellent communication and customer service skills.
• Must be computer literate with a high degree of proficiency in BMS systems.

Responsibilities

• Operates and maintains high/low pressure boilers and related systems.
• Monitors pressure, temperatures, and equipment; performs preventive maintenance and repairs.
• Oversees refrigeration equipment and systems (chillers, absorbers, compressors, controls).
• Oversees daily watch mechanic duties and may perform those duties when needed.
• Coordinates service calls when the Call Center is closed.
• Maintains plant/work logs and keeps facilities clean and organized.
• Monitors fuel consumption and receipts; competency with BMS and controls.
