Job summary

Ameristar Casino Resort Spa is seeking dependable kitchen staff to support high-volume outlets. You will read recipes, prepare a wide range of items, and ensure consistency and safety in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities include operating kitchen equipment, maintaining station cleanliness, and collaborating with team members to deliver quality meals. Experience in food preparation and adherence to health regulations are essential.

Qualifications

• Excellent guest service skills.
• Knowledge of food storage, knife handling, weights & measures, stocks, soups and sauces, plate presentations, recipes and yields.
• Follows Health department regulations, sanitation and safety rules.
• Clear communication with guests and co-workers.
• Strong organizational and teamwork abilities.

Responsibilities

• Always conduct oneself in a manner that reflects a positive professional image.
• Read and follow recipes and measurements.
• Read, write, speak, and understand basic English to read recipes and communicate.
• Operate kitchen equipment (slicer, steamer, fryer, ovens, grill, mixer, kettle).
• Move and handle up to 300 lbs of goods safely on a continuous schedule.
• Perform tasks requiring bending, standing, and walking long distances.
• Organize and prioritize work to meet deadlines.
• Cook, prepare, dish-out and assemble all outlets' food.
• Adhere to food cost controls and quality standards.
• Complete all assigned side work and restock.
• Check station setup and cleanliness before, during, and after shift.
• Observe safety procedures and maintain clean as you go.
• Follow health codes and hand washing guidelines.
• Prepare items per standard recipes to ensure consistency.
• Prepare salads, bases, seafood, stocks, and desserts as needed.
• Maintain knowledge of one station with familiarity of others.
