Job summary

Ameristar Casino Resort Spa is hiring for a full-time line cook in a fast-paced, high-volume kitchen. You will learn all food outlets, read orders from computer printouts, and prepare items to standard recipes to ensure consistency for guests.

Responsibilities include prepping, cooking, maintaining sanitation, coordinating with dining staff, and adhering to Health Department regulations. A minimum of 1 year experience and ability to work the 10:00pm–6:00am shift are required.

Qualifications

• At least one year of experience directly related to food preparation
• Must be able to work a grave shift (10:00pm–6:00am)
• Basic reading and math skills for recipes and measurements
• Demonstrated ability to prepare a wide variety of items to standard under high-volume, fast-paced conditions
• Knowledge of sanitation procedures and health regulations

Responsibilities

• Learn and be familiar with all Ameristar Casino Resort and Spa food outlets and answer general questions about the property
• Read food orders and prepare items according to established recipes
• Prepare all food items according to standard recipes to ensure consistency
• Wash, slice, peel, and cut foods for cooking or serving
• Test foods to ensure proper cooking and adjust as needed
• Coordinate with dining room staff to relay orders
• Complete prep items as written on prep sheets
• Maintain sanitary, safe, and efficient work areas and equipment
• Observe and enforce Health Department regulations regarding food handling and cleanliness
• Attend company training programs and complete opening/closing duties as assigned
