Job summary

Snowbird is seeking a Host for the Steak Pit Restaurant at Snowbird Center. This seasonal, afternoon/evening role requires weekend/holiday availability and offers ski pass-related perks.

You’ll welcome guests, manage reservations, seat guests, and ensure a smooth dining experience in a fast-paced setting. You will coordinate seating, assist with menus and questions, handle the waitlist, and maintain a clean host area.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • 0-6 months of job-specific work experience with demonstrated competence.
  • Must be 21+.
  • Food Handler Permit.
  • Demonstrate competency in operating dish machines and chemicals.

Responsibilities

  • Greet guests warmly upon arrival and seat them to create a welcoming experience.
  • Take and confirm reservations over the phone or online; handle walk-ins.
  • Coordinate seating to balance server workloads and maintain turnover.
  • Provide menus, answer questions about specials, hours, and directions.
  • Communicate wait times accurately to guests and manage the waitlist.
  • Escort guests to tables, introduce servers, and orient guests.
  • Maintain cleanliness of the host station and dining area.
  • Work with servers and staff on table needs and guest requests.
  • Handle guest complaints professionally and seek satisfaction.
  • Process payments and provide change when needed.
  • Assist with cleaning during busy periods to keep service smooth.

Title: Host - Steak Pit Restaurant

Location: Snowbird Center

Status: Seasonal, hours vary based on business needs

Schedule: Afternoon/evening shifts. Must be available to work weekends and holidays.

SUMMARY

As a host you will facilitate exemplary dining experiences by warmly greeting and seating guests, using names when possible, and maintaining a smooth operation using a waiting list or reservation program.

WHAT YOU WILL DO
  • Greeting guests warmly upon arrival, making them feel welcomed and comfortable.
  • Managing reservations - taking and confirming reservations over the phone or online, and handling walk-ins during peak and off-peak times.
  • Coordinating seating arrangements - using a table management system or floor chart to assign tables strategically, balancing server workloads and maintaining good table turnover.
  • Providing menus and answering initial guest questions about specials, hours, or directions.
  • Estimating and communicating wait times accurately to guests, especially walk-ins.
  • Managing the waitlist - keeping track of guests in line and updating servers on table availability.
  • Escorting guests to their tables, presenting menus, and introducing servers or providing brief orientation.
  • Maintaining cleanliness and organization of the host station, dining area, and entryway.
  • Communicating with servers and staff about table needs, guest status, and any special requests.
  • Handling guest complaints professionally and ensuring satisfaction.
  • Processing payments and providing change when needed.
  • Assisting with cleaning tasks during busy periods to keep the restaurant running smoothly.
WHAT YOU NEED TO GET THE JOB DONE
  • High School Diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • 0-6 months of job-specific work experience with demonstrated competence.
  • Must be 21+
  • Food Handler Permit.
  • Demonstrate competency in operating dish machines and chemicals
  • Requires some exercise of judgement within policy guidelines and without supervisory approval.
  • Requires problem solving and initiation of activities within job description and have a strong understanding of other Snowbird operations.
SCHEDULE

Hours vary based on business needs

This restaurant is only open in the evenings for dinner so you will be working evening shifts.
