Job summary

Arkansas Children’s is seeking a Maintenance professional to operate and maintain the Central Energy Plant, ensuring a stable utility supply and safe operation across buildings on campus.

No formal education is required, but a Boiler Operator License, Industrial Maintenance Electrician license, and EPA Universal Technician certification are recommended. Multiple shifts are available with starting pay of $18.30–$22.80 per hour.

Responsibilities

• Ensure plant machinery and systems operate within design specs and take corrective action when needed.
• Operate and maintain HVAC, alarms, fire systems, emergency generation, medical gas, pneumatics and hydraulics; diagnose issues.
• Respond to alarms quickly to minimize damage and inconvenience; maintain detailed event logs.
• Maintain knowledge of safety procedures and use of PPE.
• Perform inspections, repairs and preventive maintenance per schedules.
• Increase knowledge of machines and systems and their operating characteristics.
• Understand emergency procedures for all plant equipment/utilities and ensure readiness.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Additional Information

Operates and maintains basic Central Energy Plant machinery to attain maximum comfort levels and a stable supply of all utilities in all buildings connected to the plants, while maximizing efficiency and emergency readiness.

We currently have five (5) openings for this position across the following shifts:

• Three (3) openings: First Shift — 7:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.
• One (1) opening: Second Shift — 3:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m.
• One (1) opening: Third Shift — 11:00 p.m. to 7:00 a.m.

Description

1. Ensures all plant machinery and systems are operating within design specs and takes appropriate action if not. Continuously monitors local indicators and building automation system to ensure proper operation of machinery and a stable supply of utilities.
2. Operates and maintains the HVAC, fire alarm, fire sprinkler, emergency electrical generation, medical gas, pneumatic and hydraulic systems. Diagnoses equipment problems with the use of electrical/mechanical troubleshooting tools.
3. Responds quickly and effectively to alarms to minimize machinery damage and inconvenience to customers. Keeps accurate and detailed record of plant events.
4. Maintains knowledge of and practices all plant safety procedures. Understands the purpose and use of personal protection equipment.
5. Conducts basic inspections, repairs, and preventive maintenance on machinery in accordance with preventive maintenance schedules.
6. Maintains and increases knowledge of machines/systems and their operating characteristics.
7. Possesses knowledge of emergency response procedures for all plant equipment/utilities, and demonstrates the ability to carry out procedures. Maintains emergency power system readiness at all times.
8. Performs other duties as assigned.
