Job summary

Regions Hospital is seeking a Stationary Engineer to operate boilers and plant systems, delivering steam and chilled water to the hospital and related buildings. The role focuses on preventive maintenance, water treatment, and routine inspections to minimize energy losses and major repairs.

The position requires licensing and provides wait times for 3rd shift coverage with defined compensation structures and weekend differentials.

Qualifications

• Experience: 3 years that qualifies for 1st class B engineer’s licensure OR completion of operating engineer apprenticeship program.
• Licensure: Must possess a Minnesota State 1st Class B or A or Chief B/A license.
• Must possess a valid Minnesota State Driver’s license.

Responsibilities

• Operate boilers and plant equipment to provide steam and chilled water to the hospital.
• Maintain energy efficiency and minimize losses through preventive maintenance and water treatment.
• Record equipment usage and production for budget reports.
• Operate district heating heat exchangers when applicable.
• Keep boiler spaces clean and perform related duties.

Job description

Regions Hospital is looking for a Stationary Engineer to join our team.

The ideal candidate for this opportunity will be responsible for Operating Boilers / plant equipment; required to provide steam and chillers to provide chilled water to the hospital and associated buildings; to keep energy losses and major repair to a minimum through preventive maintenance, water treatment, and routine inspection; to record equipment usage and production for reference and budget reports; to operate District Heating heat exchangers (when applicable); to keep boiler plant equipment and spaces clean; and to perform related duties as assigned.

Work schedule:

Evening Shift: 3PM - 11PM. Rotating days off

Required Qualifications:

Stationary Engineer:

• Minimum Qualifications: Experience: 3 years of experience that qualifies for 1st class B engineer’s licensure OR successful completion of operating engineer technical college apprenticeship program.
• Licensure/ Registration/ Certification: Must possess a First Class “B”, or a First Class “A” or a Chief “B” or a Chief “A” Minnesota State Engineers license.
• Must possess a valid Minnesota State Driver’s license.
• Compensation: 1st class Engineer license: $48.56 hr. plus 2nd shift differential $2.50 hr. with additional weekend differential of $1.00 hr.

Provisional:

• Minimum Qualifications: Experience:1 year of experience that qualifies for 2nd class B engineer’s licensure OR successful completion of boiler operator / building maintenance technical college that produces a 2nd class B or higher license.
• Licensure/ Registration/ Certification: Must possess a current Minnesota State Engineers License, 2nd Class “B” or 2nd Class “A” (minimum). Must be able to obtain 1st class license within 3 years to maintain employment.
• Must possess a valid Minnesota State Driver’s license.
• Compensation: 2nd class A or B engineer license: $44.04 hr. plus 2nd shift differential $2.50 hr. with additional weekend differential of $1.00 hr. Will revive full scale when receiving 1st class engineer license.
