Job summary

American Electric Power in Fort Wayne, IN seeks a Station Electrician to perform construction, maintenance, and testing of energized and de-energized electric facilities. You will support emergency responses, operate and service station equipment, and follow safety rules while climbing structures and working with high-voltage systems.

The role requires an associate degree or equivalent experience, is full-time, and involves overtime, travel (>50%), and a mandatory PAT-based training regimen.

Qualifications

• Requires Associate degree in electrical/mechanical/industrial maintenance technology or equivalent.
• No prior work experience required.
• Willingness to travel >50% of the time.
• Overtime, call-out overtime and shift work required.
• Must live within 45 miles of Ft Wayne, IN.

Responsibilities

• Work on energized equipment up to 260 volts, with higher-voltage work after six months under supervision.
• Select proper prints and drawings for various tasks and understand each.
• Use voltmeters, ohmmeters, ammeters, insulation megger and other test equipment.
• Assist in maintenance and repair of transformers, breakers, substations, rotating machinery, and related systems.
• Operate vehicles and specialized equipment and support safety and reporting requirements.
