Job summary

AEP is seeking a Station Electrician to perform a broad range of duties related to energized and de-energized generation, transmission, and distribution facilities. You will support emergency response, inspections, and routine maintenance across transformers, breakers, substations, and associated equipment.

Responsibilities include working with voltages up to 260V initially, advancing to higher voltage work under supervision, reading prints, and using diagnostic test equipment.

Qualifications

• Associate degree in electrical/mechani.

Responsibilities

• Work on energized equipment up to 260 volts.
• Assist in work on conductors and equipment energized above 750 volts with supervision.
• Select proper prints/drawings and understand their basics.
• Use test equipment such as voltmeters, ohmmeters, ammeters, insulation meggers.
• Assist in disassembling/maintaining station transformers, circuit breakers, portable substations, machinery, batteries; replace nitrogen bottles and air filters.
• Assist in installing conduit, pipe, cable, wiring; dig trenches; install/remove fencing and safety signs.
