Job summary

AEP is seeking a qualified individual to support construction, maintenance, and operation of energized and de-energized generation, transmission, and distribution facilities. This role includes assisting in emergency responses, equipment inspection, maintenance, and testing to ensure reliable service.

Qualifications

• Associate degree in electrical, mechanical, or industrial maintenance.
• Ability to read and interpret prints/drawings.
• Willingness to work in a safety-conscious environment.

Responsibilities

• Perform work on energized equipment up to 260 volts.
• Assist with work on conductors and equipment energized above 750 volts under supervision.
• Select proper prints or drawings for various work and understand them.
• Use testing equipment such as voltmeters, ohmmeters, and meggers.
• Disassemble, inspect, repair, and maintain station transformers, circuit breakers, and portable substations.
• Install and maintain batteries; replace nitrogen bottles and air filters.
• Install conduit, pipe, cable, and wire; dig trenches; install safety barriers and signs.
• Inspect condition of equipment and report abnormalities.
• Perform routine maintenance and assist in training other employees.
