Job summary

American Electric Power (AEP) is seeking a Station Electrician in Fort Wayne, IN to perform construction, maintenance, testing and inspection of energized or de-energized generation, transmission and distribution facilities. Respond to emergency calls and coordinate prompt restoration of service to customers as required.

Requirements include an associate degree in electrical/mechanical/industrial maintenance technology or equivalent, willingness to travel >50%, overtime availability, CDL,

Qualifications

• Associate degree in electrical/mechanical/industrial maintenance technology or equivalent education.
• Equivalent education and experience is limited to military training and work experience of technical/technician nature (such as aviation and nuclear instrumentation technician).
• Travel requirements are expected > 50% of the time.
• Employee shall obtain the appropriate valid commercial driver's license prior to the end of the designated probationary period.
• Must meet all vehicle operation requirements as designated by federal and/or state law.
• Must successfully complete Physical Abilities Test (PAT).
• Must live within a safe driving distance of 45 miles from 7775 Ardmore Ave Ft Wayne, IN 46809.

Responsibilities

• Work on energized equipment up to 260 volts.
• Assist in switching and testing of transformers and substations.
• Read prints and drawings and use test equipment.
• Maintain and repair station equipment and related infrastructure.
• Assist in installing conduit, wiring, and related components.
• Report abnormal conditions and participate in safety training.
