What You’ll Do

As a Static Equipment Engineer, you will support equipment integrity, reliability, and turnaround planning efforts, partnering closely with engineering and operations teams. This role will focus on developing risk-based, code-compliant scopes of work that support safe and efficient turnaround execution while reducing operational risk, downtime, and lifecycle costs.

Key responsibilities include:
  • Promote a strong safety culture and support initiatives focused on achieving Zero Harm.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable HSE standards, policies, and regulatory requirements.
  • Develop risk-based static equipment scopes for planned turnarounds.
  • Translate inspection findings, Risk-Based Inspection (RBI) results, and equipment failure history into clear and actionable work scopes.
  • Participate in scope reviews, challenge processes, and scope freeze activities.
  • Assess equipment condition and determine whether assets require replacement, repair, or deferral based on documented risk.
  • Develop business cases for capital equipment replacements, including risk justification, repair-versus-replace analysis, and reliability considerations.
  • Support long-term asset integrity, reliability, and lifecycle planning.
  • Develop and approve Inspection and Test Plans (ITPs) based on applicable codes, equipment criticality, and risk.
  • Develop detailed repair scopes, technical work instructions, and execution requirements.
  • Support the development of work packages designed to minimize rework, delays, and schedule risk.
  • Ensure turnaround inspection results are accurately documented and incorporated into applicable digital asset management and maintenance systems.
  • Evaluate turnaround findings and incorporate lessons learned into updated inspection intervals and future turnaround scopes.
  • Ensure equipment repairs, inspections, and other work comply with applicable API, ASME, NBIC, and internal engineering standards.
  • Identify opportunities to improve turnaround scope development, work package quality, inspection effectiveness, and overall equipment reliability.
  • Collaborate with operations, maintenance, inspection, engineering, and other stakeholders to ensure effective execution of turnaround activities.
What We’re Looking For
  • Bachelor’s degree in Metallurgy, Materials, Mechanical, Civil, Manufacturing, Chemical Engineering, or a related engineering discipline.
  • API 510, API 570, API 653, API 581, or similar certifications preferred; candidates actively pursuing these certifications will also be considered.
  • 5+ years of engineering and/or maintenance experience within a petrochemical, refining, power generation, or similarly complex heavy industrial environment.
  • 5+ years of experience focused on static equipment reliability, integrity, turnaround planning, and execution.
  • Demonstrated experience with:
  • Turnaround scope development, optimization, and risk-based prioritization.
  • Development of Inspection and Test Plans (ITPs) aligned with applicable codes, standards, and owner-user requirements.
  • Repair scope development, work package preparation, and execution planning.
  • Capital replacement evaluations, including technical, financial, and reliability considerations.
  • Technical evaluation and disposition of inspection findings, including appropriate risk-based justification.
  • Turnaround closeout activities, including documentation, data validation, and integration into asset integrity or maintenance management systems.
  • Strong knowledge of static plant equipment, materials, degradation and failure mechanisms, fabrication, inspection, and repair processes.
  • Ability to interpret inspection data and translate findings into practical maintenance, repair, and replacement strategies.
  • Willingness and ability to obtain and maintain a TWIC card.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills with a positive, team-oriented approach.
