Job summary

The Senior Literacy Consultant at Colorado Department of Education leads statewide READ Act implementation, managing professional development contracts and guiding districts and schools in evidence-based reading instruction for multilingual learners, students with disabilities, and at‑risk students.

You will develop resources, coordinate district trainings, analyze kindergarten through third grade data, and support educators with data-driven literacy strategies.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in literacy, reading, elementary education, or related field.
• Five+ years of public education experience including elementary classroom work and literacy leadership.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, Google, Teams, and Zoom.
• Excellent organizational skills and ability to multi-task and meet deadlines.
• Strong written and oral communication; self-starter and team player.
• Willingness to travel 30–40% within Colorado; background check required.

Responsibilities

• Lead READ Act implementation and manage professional development contracts.
• Provide guidance and professional development to districts and schools in evidence-based reading instruction.
• Develop resources and maintain an online course platform (e.g., Moodle).
• Analyze K–3 reading data and advise on strategies to improve literacy outcomes.
• Coordinate and deliver trainings regionally; travel as required.
