Job summary

The Colorado Department of Education is seeking a Literacy Curriculum and Assessment Specialist to lead READ Act implementation, uplift advisory list reviews, and coordinate UIP reporting. This role collaborates with multiple CDE offices to ensure scientifically based reading instruction is applied in districts and teacher preparation programs.

Strong project management and communication skills are essential.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in literacy, reading, elementary education, or a related field with coursework in scientifically based reading instruction.
• Five or more years of experience in public education, including classroom experience.

Responsibilities

• Lead READ Act Advisory List reviews of instructional programs, assessments, and professional development.
• Coordinate Unified Improvement Plan (UIP) submissions and review processes with data teams.
• Oversee Educator Preparation Program reviews and authorization activities.
• Monitor READ Act implementation and fidelity across districts and state programs.
• Develop and deliver statewide communications, webinars, and guidance related to UIP, reviews, and monitoring.
