Job summary

The Alaska Department of Public Safety seeks an Alaska statewide 911 & Interoperability Coordinator to lead emergency communications and interoperability across the state. Qualifications

• Three years of administrative, technical, or professional experience in telecommunications fields such as telephone systems engineering, broadcasting, satellite systems, data communications, or telecommunications management.
• Four years of education in electronic engineering, physics, industrial engineering, communications, public utilities or a closely related field above high school level.

Responsibilities

• Lead statewide efforts to strengthen interoperable public safety communications across Alaska.
• Provide technical consulting, maintain the State 911 Plan and PSAP inventory, and support NG911 implementation.
• Coordinate with local, state, tribal, and federal partners to advance statewide interoperability initiatives.
• Manage projects and grant-funded initiatives, ensuring compliance and progress; identify communications risks and support emergency preparedness.
