Job summary

The Commonwealth of Massachusetts is seeking an Associate Counsel to join the Executive Office for Administration and Finance. You will work with General Counsel and Deputy Counsels to provide legal review, advice, and guidance across a portfolio of legal and policy areas, including compliance, legislation, and policy strategy.

Qualified candidates will have Massachusetts Bar membership, 2–5 years of relevant experience, and strong collaboration and communication skills.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of relevant legal experience in state government or similar environment.
• Massachusetts Bar in good standing is required.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Provide legal review, advice, and guidance on portfolio legal and policy matters.
• Draft legislation and advise on compliance matters.
• Support strategy and policy development with agencies across the Commonwealth.
• Advise cross-disciplinary work streams within the Secretariat.
• Analyze and interpret laws, policies, and contracts related to policy matters.
