Job summary

Virginia State Parks’ Holliday Lake State Park is accepting applications for a Trades Technician II. This position performs recurring grounds care, park maintenance, equipment maintenance, light construction, and cleaning tasks to operate park facilities.

The role includes supervising seasonal Trades Techs and volunteers, requires experience with mowing, tool use, and basic repairs, and involves working evenings, weekends, and holidays.

Qualifications

• Experience with building, grounds or equipment maintenance.
• Experience with common hand tools and cleaning equipment.
• Experience with minor plumbing, electrical or carpentry repairs.

Responsibilities

• Perform groundskeeper tasks such as mowing, weed eating, cleaning bathrooms, trash removal, and light construction.
• Work independently on assigned tasks.
• Safely and competently use of power tools (gas and electric).
• Perform preventative maintenance on mowers, groundskeeper equipment, and tools.
• Perform basic carpentry for repairs to bridges and other park structures.
• Drive and operate tractors, UTVs, trucks and other heavy machinery.
• Train new members of staff and volunteers.
• Work outdoors in all weather conditions and temperature extremes.
• Position requires working evenings, weekends, and holidays.
