Job summary

Maryland Department of Natural Resources, Maryland Park Service, seeks Park Technician Trainee/I/II to maintain grounds, facilities and equipment across state parks. Roles range from trainee under close supervision to full-performance Park Technician II with general supervision.

Qualifications

• Education: Graduation from an accredited high school or possession of a high school equivalency certificate.
• Experience: Two years of experience in the skilled maintenance or construction trades, e.g. Electrician, Plumber or experience in the maintenance of a park, forest or wildlife facility.
• Substitution rules: college forestry/wildlife/park management credits may substitute for up to two years of required experience; additional experience may substitute for education.
• Military service in equipment, facilities and services roles may substitute on a year-for-year basis.

Responsibilities

• Monitor and maintain grounds, facilities and equipment in state parks.
• Operate and maintain power tools and heavy equipment; perform carpentry, electrical, masonry and plumbing tasks.
• Lead or supervise seasonal employees and volunteers where assigned; assist with day-to-day park operations.
