Job summary

6 Degrees Search is seeking an Audit Director with a strong State and Local Government specialization for a progressive regional CPA firm. The role offers a fast track to partnership and a reasonable work-life balance within a hybrid work environment in Irvine, CA, with relocation assistance available.

The Director will liaise between Partners, clients, and staff, oversee multiple engagements, develop staff, and cultivate new business. Travel to client locations is required as needed.

Qualifications

• Approximately 10 years' experience in public accounting and a minimum of 2 years in a senior manager position, with significant experience in the public sector including auditing state and local governments.
• Bachelor’s degree in accounting or related field; CPA license required.
• Experience in GAAS/Yellow Book, GAAP, and Uniform Guidance; ability to travel to client and firm locations.

Responsibilities

• Maintain client relationships throughout the year and understand client operations and control systems.
• Act as engagement partner or report to engagement partner on engagements and ensure deliverables comply with accounting frameworks.
• Lead staff, train engagement teams, and contribute to staff performance evaluations and recruitment.
• Develop new business for the firm and lead client meetings, fee estimates, and prospective engagements.
• Oversee all phases of engagements and ensure billing and collections align with firm policy.
