Job summary

The State of West Virginia seeks a Building and Grounds Manager to lead a maintenance crew responsible for state facilities’ upkeep. You will plan, coordinate, and oversee daily repairs, renovations, and improvements while ensuring safety and code compliance.

You’ll work hands-on with your team, set maintenance procedures, track work, and mentor staff. Travel is required; a valid driver’s license is needed to visit multiple state properties.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of various phases of construction and building systems.
• Familiarity with safety and fire regulations and building codes.
• Ability to read and revise blueprints and plans.
• Ability to lead and mentor maintenance crews.
• Strong communication and teamwork skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead and direct a crew maintaining, repairing, and renovating state property.
• Recommend alterations to existing structures.
• Evaluate and determine space requirements.
• Ensure state building codes and safety regulations are met.
• Establish maintenance and repair procedures for the team.
• Provide instruction and on-the-job guidance to crew members.
• Monitor work to ensure safety, efficiency, and quality.
• Assess and recommend upgrades to lighting, heating, and ventilation.
