Job summary

The State of West Virginia invites applications for a Building and Grounds Manager who will lead a team responsible for maintaining, renovating and ensuring safe, attractive state facilities. You will plan, coordinate, and supervise daily maintenance and repair activities.

Preferred candidates have a high school diploma and 8 years of related experience in building maintenance or construction, with strong knowledge of safety codes and blueprints.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• 8 years of full-time or equivalent experience in building maintenance or construction, or highway-related experience.

Responsibilities

• Lead and direct a crew maintaining, repairing, and renovating state property.
• Evaluate and determine adequate operating space requirements.
• Ensure state building codes and safety and fire regulations are met.
• Establish maintenance and repair procedures to be used by all building maintenance personnel.
• Provide instruction and on-the-job guidance to crew members.
• Monitor work to ensure safety, efficiency and quality.
• Read and revise blueprints as needed.
• Maintain records and utilize state purchasing processes.
