Job summary

West Virginia University is seeking a Maintenance Worker II in Morgantown to perform skilled landscape maintenance, operate Roads & Grounds equipment, and assist with construction and maintenance of landscape structures.

You will handle concrete finishing, apply sealers, plant trees and shrubs, remove snow, and participate in preventive maintenance and records for equipment. Valid driver's license required and willingness to respond to emergencies.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED with vocational/technical training in masonry, carpentry or landscape management.
• At least 1 year experience operating grounds maintenance equipment.
• Experience in commercial landscaping and constructing landscape structures.
• Any equivalent combination of related education and/or experience will be considered.
• All qualifications must be met by the time of employment.

Responsibilities

• Operate payloaders, backhoes, asphalt pavers, rollers, forklifts, small dump trucks and landscape equipment.
• Assist with construction and maintenance of landscape structures using masonry materials.
• Apply sealers, anti-spalling compounds and adhesives; finish concrete per standards.
• Plant trees and shrubs; seed lawns; aerate, fertilize and amend soil as needed.
• Remove snow from sidewalks and roads using trucks, tractors and power tools.
• Respond to emergencies and be reachable during emergencies and unsafe conditions.
• Maintain equipment with routine service and assist mechanics on major repairs.
• Keep areas clean and maintain maintenance records for trucks and equipment.
• Perform preventive maintenance and seasonal changeovers on all equipment.
