Job summary

Sikich is seeking a Summer 2027 Audit Intern for our State Audit practice. The role is hybrid, based in Springfield, IL with a coordinating site in Alexandria, VA. You will develop audit understanding, test state financials, and collaborate with client personnel.

Ideal candidates are accounting students at a sophomore to senior level, pursuing CPA credentials, and proficient with Microsoft Office, with strong communication skills and work authorization in the United States.

Qualifications

• Sophomore, Junior, or Senior status during internship.
• Currently enrolled in accounting, cost accounting, or auditing program.
• Pursuing CPA credentials.
• Able to work collaboratively with a varied team.
• Interested in auditing.
• Experienced with Microsoft Office.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship now or in the future.

Responsibilities

• Develop an understanding of the audit process.
• Analyze and test key elements of State agency financial statements and operations.
• Establish working relationships with client personnel.
• Collaborate with team members to deliver exceptional client service.
• Work on a variety of tasks within audit projects.
