Job summary

Sikich LLP is seeking a Summer 2027 Audit Intern for Local Government. The role is hybrid, based in Naperville, IL and Springfield, IL, with a 40-hour work week and a pay range of $29–$30 per hour.

You will learn the audit process for local government engagements, analyze client financial statements, and test compliance with laws and regulations, while building client relationships and collaborating with a diverse team.

Qualifications

• Sophomore, junior, or senior status at time of internship.
• Enrolled in accounting, cost accounting, or auditing program at a college or university.
• Ability to work 40 hours each week during the internship.
• Interested in pursuing CPA credentials.
• Ability to work collaboratively with a varied team.
• Experienced in Microsoft Suite.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Must be authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship now or in the future.

Responsibilities

• Develop an understanding of the audit process for local government engagements.
• Analyze and test key elements of client financial statements.
• Perform testing to ensure compliance with applicable laws and regulations.
• Establish working relationships with client personnel.
• Collaborate with team members to deliver exceptional client service.
• Work on a variety of different accounting projects.
