Qualifications

• Knowledge of the Rules of Racing is required.

Responsibilities

• Load race horses in the starting gate before post time.
• School horses in the morning.
• Set the gate for each race and ensure numbers are visible.
• Follow gate procedures on/off track for each race.
• Assist jockeys with horses in gate and report maintenance or safety issues.
• Perform head starter functions if necessary.
