Job summary

United States Digital Space LLC in Hawthorne, CA, is seeking a Structures Technician (STARSHIP) for 2nd shift to assemble and service rocket components. You will drill, fit, test, and seal parts following precise drawings and use clecos, rivet guns, drills, and other tools to ensure correct tolerances.

Qualifications include a high school diploma and 1+ year’s experience in hardware assembly or a related trade program (A&P, manufacturing, electronics).

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalency certificate.
• 1+ years of experience in hardware assembly, test, maintenance, material handling, and/or installation; OR certificate from an accredited trade skills program in A&P, manufacturing, and/or electronics.

Responsibilities

• Modify, repair, assemble, and install rocket and spacecraft components and subcomponents.
• Align parts and secure in place using clecos or tooling/hand clamps.
• Operate sheet metal equipment such as CNCs, brake presses, and rollers.
• Operate and utilize robots, welders, and manufacturing software.
• Perform routine maintenance procedures for tooling and equipment.
• Install mechanical fasteners per drawing using rivet gun, drill motor, and other tools.
• Conduct component and assemblies testing on rocket structures (pressurized, fatigue, etc.).
• Shim and/or trim parts as required.
• Select drill bits, reamers, and countersinking tools for holes.
• Drill pilot holes and countersink holes in sequence per size.
• Disassemble parts and deburr holes to prepare for fasteners.
• Clean surfaces with solvents before sealing or assembly.
• Apply sealant, Alodine, primer, adhesives, and finishes.
• Load, lift, and unload parts using cranes, forklifts, and tools.
• Ensure correct fasteners and verify work against drawings.
• Use appropriate tools and procedures for close tolerance installations.
