Job summary

SpaceX is seeking a Starship Engineer to develop and qualify processes for high-rate manufacturing of propulsion, avionics, and welded structural assemblies. The role emphasizes design for manufacturing, poka-yoke systems, and automation to maximize yield and minimize takt times.

You will work with design teams to influence flight design and vehicle architecture, and you will implement advanced inspection and automation techniques on production lines.

Qualifications

• Degree in a relevant engineering discipline with strong manufacturing focus.
• Experience in high-rate manufacturing and process design is required or applicable via internships.
• Familiarity with design for manufacturing and problem-solving on production lines.
• Experience using SQL or data structures to inform priorities.

Responsibilities

• Develop and qualify processes for high-rate manufacturing of propulsion, avionics, and welded structures.
• Design precision tooling to reduce assembly errors and cycle times.
• Automate processes to enable repeatable high-rate production.
• Collaborate with design teams to improve flight design and vehicle architecture.
• Develop in-situ inspection techniques to improve yield and reduce cycle time.
• Manage transition of parts from development to production.
• Challenge requirements to optimize processes and reduce overhead.
