Job summary

SpaceX in Texas seeks a Build Engineer (Starship) to develop and qualify high-rate manufacturing processes for propulsion, avionics, and welded structures. You will emphasize design for manufacturability, implement poka-yoke, and push for yield improvements and automation to reduce takt times.

You will collaborate with design and test teams to influence flight hardware, qualify tooling, and transition parts from development to production.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or advanced degree in aerospace, manufacturing, materials, mechanical engineering or related field.
• 1+ years of manufacturing and process design experience (internships/academics count).
• Experience with design for manufacturing and high-rate production is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Develop and perform acceptance testing of manufacturing processes, techniques, and tools for high-rate production.
• Design and implement precision tooling to reduce assembly errors and cycle times.
• Automate novel processes to ensure repeatability on high-rate lines.
• Collaborate with design engineering to influence flight design for manufacturability.
• Develop and/or automate in-situ inspection techniques to improve yield.
• Oversee transition of parts from development to production.
• Challenge requirements to optimize processes and reduce overhead.
