Job summary

SpaceX in Hawthorne is seeking a Manufacturing Engineer for Starship Machining Operations to own factory layouts, production area design, and the installation and commissioning of automated CNC cells. You will partner across teams to scale capacity and deliver on aggressive schedule while maintaining safety standards.

The role requires a Bachelor's in physics or an engineering discipline and 2+ years hands-on manufacturing experience, with hands-on installation of complex machinery and strong

• 2+ years of hands-on manufacturing experience.

Responsibilities

• Design and own factory and production area layouts that enable increased capacity and capability for machining Starship components.
• Lead the installation and commissioning of new automated CNC machining cells, including machines, material feeds, part catch systems, and ancillary equipment.
• Conduct vendor job walks, negotiate prices and hold vendors to schedule.
• Execute complex projects with minimal time and cost to the business.
• Lead by example to complete projects rapidly on the factory floor.
• Develop system and process improvements across production teams.
• Create tools to analyze delivery, capacity, and cost to guide decisions.
• Drive safety throughout the factory build-out and design production work centers with safety in mind.
